Obituary of Donald Robert MACDONALD
Donald Robert MACDONALD
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Robert MacDonald. Don passed away on Saturday, April 15th at the age of 84 with family by his side.
Don was born January 3, 1939, in Cumberland BC to Theresa and Ernest MacDonald. At the age of 7, his family moved to Fernie BC. After graduating from FSS in 1957, Don went on to work for CIBC. While working for the bank, Don lived in many places including Banff, Uranium City, Calgary, and Edmonton. He met Diane while working in Waskatenau AB, and they married in December 1967. In 1970, Don and his family relocated back to Fernie where he began work at the Elko mill as a saw filer. After retiring in 2000, Don and Diane were able to travel more often, with the most notable vacation being Tahiti! Don loved the outdoors. He was always happy to get out for a drive on a back road, hunt, gold pan, and picnic. Family and friends were important to him; getting together for any occasion always brought that memorable smile to his face.
Don is survived by his loving wife Diane of 55 years, his son Darren MacDonald, daughters, Susan (Andy) Buchan, and Jennifer MacDonald, and grandchildren Connor, Sarah, Matthew, Daniel, and Ethan. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Theresa, and sister Janet Tombosso.
The MacDonald family would like to send heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ma, Dr. Treble, and all the staff at Rocky Mountain Village.
