Elk Valley RCMP Report

No evidence vehicle was stolen

On May 27, at 10:44 a.m., Elk Valley RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle, which had been parked on the Valley Forest Service Road near Line Creek Mine Road near Sparwood. The complaint reports he and some friends had been camping near that location, but he’d left his vehicle, a 2009 black Chevrolet Cobalt four-door sedan with B.C. licence plate SV512S, parked there overnight. He last saw the vehicle around 12:30 a.m. After returning to pick up the vehicle in the morning around 10 a.m, the vehicle was gone. There was one key available, which was in the possession of the owner. The vehicle had not been towed away by any local tow operator. RCMP attended the location and found no evidence to support who may have taken the vehicle.

Sea-cans broken into in Sparwood

On May 28, at 9:34 a.m., Elk Valley RCMP responded to a report of a number of sea-cans being broken into at the Sparwood Mini Storage located at 5000 Highway 43 near Sparwood. Police attended and discovered eight units had been entered by unknown suspects with unknown items missing at writing due to the infancy of the investigation. Forensic Identification Services was advised and is attending the scene on 2023-05-29. RCMP are currently working with the owner to determine renter status of the lockers. The units were secured as best possible pending contact with the renters and the forensic investigation.

Generator stolen from provincial park campsite

On May 28 at 1:42 p.m., Elk Valley RCMP was advised of a theft from the Kikomen Provincial Park nearest to Elko. The complainant advised that, while he was away from his campsite, an unknown suspect entered the campground and took his 2500W invertor generator. The complainant had no serial numbers or other descriptors for the generator, which was valued at $500 dollars.
