Snow returning to Rogers Pass tonight
The Rogers Pass to Eagle Pass stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway is under a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada for this evening (April 15), warning of the potential for up to 10 cm of snowfall.
“A cold front will bring flurries to the region tonight, with the heaviest snow expected near midnight associated with the frontal passage. Heavy flurries will taper off to a few flurries by Tuesday morning,” Environment Canada stated.
Snow is likely in the higher elevations of the East Kootenay over the next 24 plus hours.
In the Elk Valley, there is a 60% chance of rain showers changing to 60% chance of flurries before morning. The wind will be southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light this evening. Low minus 2.
Cranbrook and area has a 30% chance of flurries or rain showers before morning.
And Kootenay National Park can expect a few rain showers changing to periods of snow this evening. Risk of thunderstorms early this evening. Snow level 1,500 metres lowering to valley bottom this evening.
