Windermere Fall Fair basked in dog day glory

The Windermere Fall Fair and Scarecrow Festival became a dandy dozen beneath a blazing blue dog days of summer sky Sept. 10.

Several thousand people made the most of the glorious late summer day by taking part as exhibitors or visitors. Whatever the ‘itor’ – it was great.

Summer harvest goodies, bi-products of said harvests, tasty baked treats, arts, crafts, wellness, honey, jewelry, exotic and traditional snacks and much more lined the way in the Windermere Elementary School playfield, with a small village of vendors and exhibitors.

Inside the Windermere Community Hall was a variety of fair and festival prize winning items, from photography, flower arrangements, quilting, vegetables and more.

Continuous live music soundtracked the lively fair, as Windermere Volunteer Fire Department members enthralled and cooled down a wriggling throng of foamy children.

As with each year, the fair provided a chance for locals to re-connect after the long summer tourist season slows down.

All-in-all, the Windermere Community Association (WCA) fundraising event was another excellent production.

Thanks and kudos to the WCA for a job well done!
