TSB announced it is deploying a team of investigators “following a derailment involving a Canadian Pacific Railway company train that occurred earlier today near Jaffray, British Columbia. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.”

CPKC reports 16 cars derailed near Jaffray, on CPKC’s Cranbrook Subdivision, with one carrying an as yet identified hazardous material. No leaks have been reported and there is no risk to public safety.

This derailment comes on the heels of one Sept. 2 near Elko when a dozen empty cars derailed. No one was injured and this incident is also being looked into by TSB.
