Over the first 14 days of November (midnight, Nov. 1 to 11:59 p.m. Nov. 15), Cranbrook RCMP responded to 390 calls for service.

Our members responded to a wide variety of calls as well as engaged in proactive policing, patrols and events throughout the community.

Calls of note included:

Shots fired 2025-11-11: Cranbrook RCMP received a report from hunters in Bull River stating they had heard three-gun shots followed by a scream, and then an additional gun shot. The hunters attempted to locate the source but could not locate the source and called police.

Officers quickly attended the scene and engaged the support of BC Conservation Service, RCMP Police Dog Service (PDS), as well as thermal Remote Piloted Air System (RPAS aka Drone). All conducting extensive searches that did not yield a result, nor did canvasing of surrounded areas, and hospitals.

The only heat signature picked up by the drone belonged to wildlife leaving authorities to believe that an individual likely had been startled by a bear and fired shots prior to vacating the area. While the search did not yield definitive answers, it was a remarkable demonstration of how quickly resources can mobilize, assemble and collaborate in support of the community.

Our officers booked 17 individuals into Cranbrook cells including six released when sober, four individuals arrested on outstanding warrants, five individuals were transported by BC Sheriffs Service, two individuals were remanded into custody one of which was remanded to Alberta custody for an outstanding warrant.

In addition to calls for service officers were also out conducting proactive policing including two targeted speed enforcement points in school zones, curfew checks and proactive patrols which resulted in an individual being remanded for their breaching conditions.

Acknowledgement to the 11 members who donned their serge to honor our veterans that the Remembrance Day ceremony (including three dedicated Mounties who had just completed a busy night shift).
