Obituary of William John Plourd
William (Bill) John Plourd
Bill was a veteran. He joined the army at 17, and spent time in Egypt and the Congo. Once he settled down, he was married to the love of his life, his soul mate Linda, for over 40 wonderful years (until her passing on February 3 of this year). He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, their husbands, and their families, as well as by his children, stepchildren, and friends of the family.
Throughout his life, Bill was well known in the Cranbrook community as the owner and operator of Mountain Eagle Security. He also dedicated many years to working at the local Ambulance Station, a role in which he took great pride.
Baseball remained Bill’s greatest passion from childhood through his later years. He could recall every play the Blue Jays ever ran. As a senior Bill played on a men’s team that advanced to the Provincials. He will be remembered for his dedication, warmth, and enduring love of the game—and by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Bill passed peacefully at the Cranbrook Hospital on March 7th, 2026.
A special thank-you to the care team of doctors and nurses at the Cranbrook Hospital. They ensured Bill passed with ease and dignity.
