Search warrant leads to cocaine and ecstasy seizure

On January 11, Cranbrook/Kimberley RCMP executed a search warrant on an apartment on 8th Street N, in Cranbrook.  Four persons were arrested and a quantity of cocaine and ecstasy tablets was seized.

The warrant was granted under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. Once inside, officers from the Cranbrook and Kimberley RCMP arrested three males and one female.  Of the four, three are facing charges of Possession of a Controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking. Two were held in custody, a third was released for court at a later date.

Police located 68 ecstasy tablets along with a 15-gram bag of cocaine and five smaller bags of cocaine, each contained half a gram.  Along with the drugs police seized evidence to support the charge of trafficking. Cocaine is typically sold in one-half to one-gram quantities, so this represents a sizable seizure.

In addition a set of brass knuckles was seized, they are considered a prohibited weapon under the Criminal Code.

All four subjects have been residing in Cranbrook.  One male (35-years-old) was wanted out of Calgary for a violent armed robbery. The Alberta warrants have been extended and he is being held in custody pending his return to Calgary to face those charges.  He was listed as one of the 10 most wanted on a Calgary Crimestoppers Web page late last year.
