Obituary of Roy Gaskell

Roy Gaskell

Roy passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Roy was born on September 21, 1929, in Kimberley, BC to Dorothy and Septimus Gaskell. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Della, as well as five brothers and sisters. Left to mourn are his three children, Terry (Janet), William, (Kathy) Darlene, (Ron) as well as his five stepchildren, Susan (Terry), Ron, Debbie (Bob), Sandra, Randy, and Sister in law Cindy (Rob). He had 21 grandchildren as well as numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Roy began cutting hair in Kimberley, BC in 1957. He moved to Baker Street in Cranbrook, BC for about 2 years before opening up Roy’s barbershop on 9th avenue until his retirement in 1996. He would always proudly tell clients that he had cut three generations of hair, father, son and grandson.

Roy’s passion was fishing and camping with Della at Premier, White Swan and Koocanusa Lakes. He also enjoyed his many games of crib with Della as well as card nights with his friends.

Dad was fortunate to live a long and healthy life.

The family would like to thank the staff at Joseph’s Creek for looking after his needs. We would also like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital as well as the nurses in his short time at the Kooteney Street Village.

Cremation has taken place and as per Dad’s wishes, there will be no formal service.
