The hockey gods were kind to the organizers and participants of the second annual BC Eastern Regional Pond Hockey Tournament held in Invermere Feb. 1-3, with sunny skies and temperatures just cool enough to keep the ice in good shape.

Playing on rinks fashioned on the ice of Lake Windermere, at Kinsmen Beach, the tournament featured 30 teams playing in five divisions including: Men’s Recreation 19+; Men’s Competitive 19+; Men’s Recreation 35+; Men’s Competitive 35+; and Mixed open division.

Teams came from as far away as Coquitlam, Spokane, Wash. and Sherwood Park, Alta However, most were based in the Kootenays, including 13 from the Columbia Valley, two from Nelson, one from Sparwood and one from Marysville.
