Red Cross celebrates move into bigger centre

It’s bigger and it’s better.

Cranbrook’s Red Cross, a branch of the B.C. Southern Interior Red Cross, celebrated a move into a new home in Baker Mall Sept. 21, with a ribbon and cake cutting ceremony involving City of Cranbrook and Red Cross officials.

City of Cranbrook councilors Denise Pallesen and Jim Wavrecan dropped by to help cut the ribbon and celebrate the opening, now made official after the Red Cross changed locations on July 15.

“This is a much better location because of the location,” said Liza Soukoroff, Red Cross B.C. Southern Interior HELP program assistant, noting that accessibility is paramount for the services provided, including the provision of medical equipment such as wheelchairs.

The Cranbrook Red Cross services the East Kootenay, making equipment and other services available for residents. All one has to do is obtain a referral from their doctor in order to borrow Red Cross equipment.
