Array of Clay Two

A collection of artwork by Elk Valley potters

The Fernie and District Arts Council and The Arts Station are pleased to announce the exhibition, Array of Clay Two, a show of pottery and ceramic works by local artisans throughout September.

Any and all pottery and ceramics artists have been invited to participate in this show and sale and it features people of all skill levels and styles. There will be two-dimensional and three-dimensional works highlighting the stunning works of local potters in Fernie and the surrounding area.

Expect to see unique functional pieces such as mugs, plates, platters and boxes, as well as original decorative works of art.  Featuring such artists as Carol Cohen, Chris Stockey, Michelle Senior, and many other fantastic potters from the Elk Valley. Come and be amazed at how a simple block of clay can be transformed with water and fire into a stunning usable piece of art.

For those interested in getting their hands dirty…or clayey in this case, there are many opportunities for you to try the fun and exciting medium of clay! The Arts Station holds workshops throughout the year for those interested in working with the wheel and hand building techniques.

Workshops welcome beginner and the intermediate, no experience necessary. There is even a workshop if you and your child want to try pottery together but without the hassle of cleaning up!  And, if after taking a class or two you want to experiment on your own the Elk Valley Pottery Guild is always welcoming new members.

The Elk Valley Pottery Guild is a group of artists who work and meet regularly in the Arts Station Pottery Studio. For more information on these fun opportunities, please check our website www.theartsstation.com.

Everyone is invited to attend the opening reception on Thursday, August 29 at 7 p.m. at The Arts Station to celebrate this new exhibition, meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. The exhibit runs until Monday, Sept. 23.
