Cranbrook candidates’ forum Nov. 8

It could be a long and interesting evening.

On Nov. 8 City of Cranbrook voters are being given a chance to see and hear from the 18 people potentially seeking election Nov. 19.

The four mayoral candidates after outgoing worship Scott Manjak’s seat are current city Coun. Jim Wavrecan, past mayoral candidate Wayne Stetski, Pat O’Connell and John York.

Short of any drop outs, there will be 14 residents vying for the six council seats, including incumbents Angus Davis, Denise Pallesen, Diana J Scott and Bob Whetham. Also running are Sean Campbell, Sharon Cross, Jim Fennell, Dave Hall, David Humphrey, Paulette Johnson, Jay Savage, Connor Stewart, Tasy Strouzas and Gerry Warner.

The all-candidates’ forum is being hosted by Junior Chambers International (JCI) Kootenay.

The forum, to be moderated by College of the Rockies president Nick Rubidge,  is being held at Key City Theatre, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the council forum begins at 6 p.m. The mayoral forum starts at 8:15 p.m.

Questions for the candidates for council will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the mayoral candidates at 8:15 p.m. The evening is expected to continue to about 10 p.m.
