Spark Youth Centre sponsoring workshop Nov. 9
Community decision-makers are being invited to a one day meeting/workshop entitled ‘Youth Centres as Hubs for Youth Services’ on Nov. 9 in Kimberley.
If you are a decision maker in your community with a vested interest in the positive development of youth, please join us. Your input is valuable and will not only build your community capacity to serve youth, but will help others across the country,” stated Dale Pearson, a project coordinator with Youth Centres Canada.
The community knowledge-sharing forum is being hosted in partnership with the LEES Learning Centre and Spark Youth Drop In, to bring together youth centres, youth service agencies, municipalities, stakeholders and decision-makers to assist in improved delivery of youth services – that is, to increase a seamless delivery of services to youth through youth centres and build community capacity.
“Our research shows that this increased collaboration leads to more sustainability for youth centres and their communities, improved access of services to youth, as well as to reduced costs for the delivery of services. We will: explore the mutual value of positive partnerships; hear from youth focus groups about their needs; share information; build stronger and new partnerships; take a simple action plan back to our respective organizations and communities that will lead to connecting in ways that enhance our youth centres, communities, and services to youth,” Pearson explained.
The forum runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9.
