First call for rookie police dog results in arrest

rcmplogoThe new Cranbrook and area police dog was successful in tracking a subject after the 7-11 was robbed early this morning (Nov. 4).

Just after 4 a.m. the 7-11 store on Victoria Street reported they had been robbed by a subject with a knife. He made off with cash and cigarettes. A police dog, fresh from training, was called in.

The dog tracked the subject all the way to his residence in the 2500 block of 12th Street N. A 22-year-old male was arrested and is currently in custody awaiting court. The subject has a criminal record and was released from jail in October for Break and Enter.

Denim had just completed his training in Innisfail, Alberta and this was his first call!
