RCMP presentation of the 2013 fourth quarter crime statistics
Cpl. Gerry Sliworsky presented crime statistics for the District of Elkford during the Jan. 27 regular meeting of council. The report represented some of the calls for police service within the District in the fourth quarter of 2013.
A delegation of Elkford citizens, calling themselves the Elkford Deer Protection Group, read a statement during the council meeting in regards to their opposition to the deer harvest.
Bylaws
The following bylaws were discussed on January 27:
Urban Wildlife Management Bylaw No. 754, 2014
The intent of this bylaw is to replace the existing Deer Feeding Prohibition Bylaw No. 676, 2006, to prohibit intentional and unintentional feeding of urban wildlife, and to manage human-wildlife interactions.
Ticket Information Utilization Amendment Bylaw No. 755, 2014
This bylaw will amend the existing Ticket Information Utilization Bylaw No. 626, 2001 to provide a schedule of fines associated with the Urban Wildlife Management Bylaw No. 754, 2014. Both these bylaws were reviewed during the Committee of the Whole meeting and council gave direction to staff for further amendments.
Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 751, 2014
Council previously gave first and second reading to this bylaw and a public hearing was held to hear representations from the public on the proposed amendments. Council defeated the third reading of the bylaw and directed staff to prepare further amendments to prohibit Medical Marijuana Production Facilities within the district. The district will hold another public hearing to hear representations from the public before council considers the third reading of the bylaw, as amended.
Franchise Agreement Authorization Bylaw No. 752, 2014
This bylaw authorizes the district to enter into a Franchise Agreement with FortisBC for operation of their gas distribution infrastructure within the District. The bylaw was adopted.
