Washington woman killed in avalanche near Golden

The BC Coroners Service today (April 14) confirmed the identity of a woman who died in hospital on April 12, after being involved in an avalanche incident northwest of Golden the previous day.

The woman is Eleanor Pryor Booher, aged 45, from Leavenworth, Washington.

Booher was backcountry skiing Friday as part of a tour group near the Gothics Glacier when she was buried by an avalanche.

Booher was located via beacon search and probes, and dug out.

Resuscitation was undertaken at the scene. She was flown to hospital in Golden and then transferred to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta where she died early the next day.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate the death of Ms. Booher.
