May Flowers at the Cranbrook and District Arts Council
This May, the Cranbrook and District Arts Council (CDAC) is very excited to present the 2014 Annual Youth Art Exhibition. This show features work, from local youth artists aged 13-year plus, in various mediums. The artwork will decorate the Gallery from Tuesday May 6 to Friday May 30.
The 2014 Youth Art Reception / Awards Gala Night
The reception for Youth Arts Exhibition will be held on Thursday May 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the CDAC Gallery. A ‘meet and greet’ with the local youth artists, music, refreshments and the awards ceremony for the top three pieces entered into the show. Prizes for awards made possible by Cranbrook Investors Group. The Art Gallery is located at: Room #104, 135 10th Avenue South, Cranbrook.
Art Journaling Workshop with Life Coach Linda Black
On Saturday May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., CDAC will be holding an Art Journaling Workshop with life coach Linda Black. Art Journaling is a form of inner creative self-expression through painting, drawing/sketching, using collage, etc. inside of a journal and using it as a life-learning tool.
In this four-hour workshop, Linda will be going over her own experiences with Art Journaling, how it has helped her creatively express and learn about herself and how it can help others learn about themselves. Through the use of Art journaling, combined with Linda Black’s visualizing technique called “Going Within,” participants will be given their own journals to create their “inner artwork” in. There will be breaks for snacks and coffee. Participants are welcome to bring their own special art supplies if they would like.
The Art Journaling Workshop will be held at the CDAC Gallery, located at: Room #104, 135 10th Avenue South, Cranbrook.
Call for Sam Steele Days 50th Anniversary Submissions
The Cranbrook and District Arts Council is looking for submissions of memorabilia and artwork connected to the Sam Steele Days celebrations from the past 50 years! The Exhibition will be running from Tuesday June 17 to Friday June 27.
2014 Sam Steele Days Business Decoration and Staff Costuming Competition
This year’s theme: ‘Sam Steele Days 50th Anniversary’ Businesses are welcome to decorate their premises for Sam Steele Days and dress in costume for Thursday, June 19, when judging will take place. Prize plaques will be awarded to the top businesses on Friday, June 20 at 12 p.m. during the EK Realty Royal LePage Corral BBQ, outside of their office.
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
1 to 5 employees
6 to 15 employees
More than 16 employees
Window/Premises Décor (businesses of all size)
