October at the Library
The following notes upcoming events at the Fernie Heritage Library for the month of October.
Storytime (ages three to five years) – Tuesdays 11:15 a.m.-noon or Fridays 2 -2:45 p.m. **NEW TIME** Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their families.
Toddlertime (ages zero to two years) – Wednesday 11:15 a.m. at the library; Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their families.
Activities for Grades 1-6 (Sept. 16-October 31)
Tuesday 3:30-4:45 p.m.: Lego Club (Grades 1+) registration required;
Wednesday 3:30-4:45 p.m.: Puzzlers (Grades 4+);
Thursdays 3:30-4:45 p.m.: Rainbow Loom Club (Grades 2+);
NEW** Fridays 12:30-1:45 p.m. Makers’ Space (Grades 2+).
Red Cedar Book Club for grades 4-6, October 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Activities for Teens
**NEW: Book to Movie Club: October 9. Read the books and watch the movies! Each month will feature a new title chosen especially for teens. We will meet on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
SKIP (Seniors and Kids Intergenerational Programs.) Senior Story time and Book Bike visits, please check out our website, Facebook site or call the library for details.
October 16 Down to Earth-Cold Climate Gardening by Helen McAllister and Jennifer Heath. Join these local authors as they celebrate the launch of their new book. Their stories, tips, and recipes will inspire you to plant a few seeds and create your own food security. Time TBA

A riveting memoir linking Pick’s own depression to her family’s repressed Holocaust memories. Fernie’s CBC-lovers will be familiar with some of this story because of the much played Shelagh Rogers’ interview about Alison’s conversion to Judaism.
Halloween Howler: October 31: 3:30-5 p.m.
New tricks and treats for the whole family at the Library’s annual Halloween Event. Everyone welcome!

Christmas Celebration: December 20: 2-4 p.m. Join the Fernie Heritage Library for an afternoon of activities, crafts, carols, snacks and a chance to catch up with your neighbours. Everyone welcome!
