Highway 93 closed to Radium
FROM MARCH 2012
Highway 93 through Kootenay National Park has been closed between Highway 1 (Castle Mountain) and Radium Hot Springs, due to avalanche hazards. It is expected the closure will last until tomorrow (Tuesday, March 6).
Highway 93 is also closed between Jasper and Lake Louise, Alta., for the same reasons.
Anyone wishing to access Radium Hot Springs or the Columbia Valley via the Trans-Canada will have to head west to Golden and then south down Highway 95.
For up-to-date road conditions – call DriveBC at 1-800-550-4997 or check their website at www.drivebc.ca for all road condition and road closure information.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Banff, Jasper, Kananaskis, Canmore, Hinton and Grande Cache. An additional 10-20 centimeters of snow is expected today. Travelers are advised to be prepared for winter driving conditions and to allow additional travel time to reach your destination.
