Ski heritage and art merging for celebration
In 1962, Fernie went from being a small mining town known by its legends and coal, to the powder heavy dream town for snow enthusiasts worldwide when Fernie Snow Valley Ski Resort opened. Like most things that cropped up in the 60s, we keep getting better and better with each year and addition. Now, we are more than just a mining town, we are more than just a seasonal resort town, we are community full of art, culture and endless talents.
To celebrate 50 years of skiing and riding at Fernie Alpine Resort, the culmination of ski heritage and art are coming together to for Ski and Art Walk.
Local businesses and arts based organizations are showcasing a variety of displays influenced by, not only ski related fanfare, but that highlighting the creative minds and talents in the art community.
With 15 stops on the Ski and Art Walk, it is a perfect way to spend the day. Because the Walk is a self-guided tour of historic downtown Fernie, you have limitless amounts of time to peruse the pieces and displays while taking in the breath taking views encompassing our beautiful town.
Each establishment and gallery offer a diverse take on what the Walk has to offer so you won’t want to miss even one stop on the tour.
