Trust fund established for a friend-in-need

A Cranbrook woman facing a lengthy recovery following a heart attack is being aided by friends and co-workers, with a trust fund established in her name at Cranbrook’s TD Bank.

East Kootenay News Online Weekly (e-KNOW) was contacted late last week by Cranbrook resident Anne Standing, who shared the story of her friend and co-worker Marion Eimer, from Tamarack Cottage and Ponderosa House, facilities run by Interior Health, with the hope we would help spread the word that Marion needs financial assistance during her time away from work.

“My co-worker Marion Eimer 56 – an LPN who works only casual at TC and PH – and long time Cranbrook resident, suddenly suffered a heart attack three weeks ago and after being taken off the respirator was told that she needed a heart transplant as quick as possible. About a week later they transferred her from Foothills ICU in Calgary to Edmonton for this heart transplant. The latest from today (Friday, March 16) is that she is somewhat aware of her environment but her kidneys are not working very well and that her recovery will be in the vicinity of three months in hospital, and possibly more,” Standing outlined.
“Now, since Marion is only working casual, she has no access to medical unemployment benefits due to the lack of hours; plus she has no other benefits of any kind. She is in great need of monetary help for a truck payment and mortgage from the community and that is why I am contacting you at this point. Another co-worker put a write up in the Townsman titled ‘A whola of heart’ and it was published on the front page on the 15. Myself and another co-worker have set up a trust fund for Marion at the TD Bank where anyone can go and deposit money in her name,” she explained.

“In these times of misfortune we all need each other’s helping hand,” Standing said.
If you would like to help out a community member or become involved, please go to the Cranbrook TD Bank and make a donation to the established trust fund.
