Team Tie top season with medals

It has been a banner season for three young Cranbrook wakeboarders – Team Tie – who rounded out their 2015 competitive season in Alberta over the weekend with three more medal performances at the Waterski and Wakeboard Alberta Provincials.
Battling rough weather conditions on Alix Lake, 18-year old Colden Thompson laid down a strong run in the Open Division, completing a number of clean tricks including a heelside 540 and Moby Dick to edge the competition and snag second place.
Brothers Ryder and Dagen Duczek (10 and eight-years-old) competed in the Grom (U14) Wakeboard Division.
Ryder moved through the opening heats to the finals, and put in a strong run in the final heat to capture first place overall. He then went on to win second place in the Amateur Wakeskate (all ages) Division.

The boys’ dad, Paul, also threw his hat in the ring – competing in the Novice Men’s Division – and ended up with a third place finish.
It has been a stellar season for the local youths, including podium finishes for all three at the Wake Canada Nationals two weeks ago.

Thompson, who is sponsored by Seca Surf and Marine, Team Lepin, Liquid Force, Spy Optics and Rusty Clothing is hoping to spend several weeks this fall and winter in Florida continuing to train.
The Duczek brothers, known affectionately as the Little Shredders, are sponsored by Just Liquid Sports, Hyperlite and Boston Pizza (Cranbrook / Golden) and will focus on riding for fun until mid-October before fully shifting gears into winter sports.
Thompson and the Duczeks ride and train at Tie Lake, near Jaffray. As they’ve travelled to different competitions in B.C., Alberta and the US, they’ve been dubbed “TeamTie.”
