Invermere man killed in head-on near Fairmont
A 73-year-old Invermere man is dead following a head-on collision on Highway 93/95 south of Fairmont Hot Springs late yesterday afternoon (Dec. 9).
At 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, Columbia Valley RCMP, East Kootenay Traffic Services, local highway rescue and BC Ambulance responded to a report of a head-on crash south of Fairmont involving a Toyota sedan and a semi-trailer.
The driver of the Toyota, a 73-year-old man from Invermere, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 55-year-old male truck driver from Cranbrook received minor injuries and was released from the hospital.
East Kootenay Traffic Services and the BC Coroner’s Service continue to investigate this accident.
This is the third fatality accident in the last week in the East Kootenay Traffic Services’ coverage area.
