One injured in rollover by Rock Cuts
Last night (December 22), at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Elk Valley RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 3, approximately five km east of Elko, near the Rock Cuts area.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was injured and was extricated by the fire crew and transported to hospital by BC Ambulance.
Traffic on both directions of Hwy. 3 in the accident area had to be stopped for approximately 90 minutes in order for the rescue operation, investigation and subsequent clean up to be conducted safely.
Speed and weather conditions are believed to be possible contributing factors to the accident. The weather at the time was -5 Celsius; light snow with snow removal truck actively plowing the highway.
“The Elk Valley RCMP would like to remind motorists travelling during this holiday season to be mindful of the road conditions. Slow down and drive to the conditions and your abilities,” said Sgt. Will Thien of the Elk Valley RCMP Detachment.
