Cathy McKay passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Cranbrook, BC, at the age of 69.

Born on July 12, 1957, in Calgary, Alberta, Cathy was the beloved daughter of Garry and Nannette McKay.

She attended Ernest Manning High School and received a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary and a Business Analyst education through McMaster University. She later pursued varied jobs in the airline industry and had a successful career as a Systems Analyst.

Travel was one of her biggest passions, whether for work or recreation. She had a lifelong passion for sports and outdoor recreation. She enjoyed gymnastics, hiking, swimming, skiing, and working out at her local gym with friends. Her love of skiing and mountains took her to many renowned ski resorts throughout North America, and she was an Alberta Ski Patroller.

Cathy will be remembered for her determination, sense of humour, and devotion to family and friends. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She loved cats and caringly fostered many in Cranbrook. They brought her joy and happiness.

Cathy is lovingly remembered by her sisters; Susan, Jane, brother-in-law; Steve and Dave, and her nephew Nash, plus extended family members and friends.
