Obituary of Dina Lee-Ann Dominick

Dina Lee-Ann DOMINICK

March 26, 1976 ~ August 24, 2022 (age 46)

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dina Lee-Ann Dominick, Kommonoisaamaki (Blue Headdress Woman), a name she was honored to accept from her Blackfoot Kindred Spirits.

Dina leaves a trail of goodness, beauty, and gardens of flowers behind her. Her beautiful voice in song and laughter will be deeply missed by her beloved son Aden Shatalow-Dominick, her parents, Deborah and Doug Dominick, her sisters Brenna (Nick) and Lindsey, as well her beautiful nieces Lyric and Scout and many dear relatives.

Dina’s selflessness, expansive heart and giving ways have left an incredible mark in the communities that were blessed by her presence.  Her playfulness, strength, and grace in the face of adversity were something her friends and family attribute to her enormous passion for people, animals, and food sovereignty. She was nature’s child and could often be found roaming the forests, rivers, meadows, and mountains near her childhood home of Hosmer, BC.  Her love of animals, big and small filled her tender heart with much joy.

Dina partook in raising a beautiful son whose heart and voice are as big as hers. In her life, Dina left countless waves of good in the communities of Hosmer, Lethbridge and Sparwood. She spearheaded many seed saving efforts and was the incredible force behind the Sparwood Community Garden, thriving today.  She loved hard and with fierce loyalty; her mystical magnetism and passion were contagious and transcended any earthly barriers.

Please honour Dina’s life by planting seeds, laughing, and spreading kindness.  Her soul wanders forth now, with the summer breeze, the winter’s first frost, the blooms of spring and the lightly floating leaves of autumn. This is where her soul resides, never far from those that she loves.

The Earth laughs in flowers…and so may your laugh (and snort) spread through the heavens, Dina. You are so loved.

“In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so, it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night… And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content to have known me. You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure… And your friends will be properly astonished to see you laughing as you look up at the sky!” ~ The Little Prince

Family & friends are invited to bring something to place on Dina’s memory table.
