Obituary of Helen Violet Bachlet

Helen BACHLET

September 3, 1935 ~ April 11, 2023 (age 87)

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Helen Violet Bachlet announces her passing on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in Fernie, British Columbia at 87 years of age.

Helen was born September 3, 1935 in Fernie and graduated from Fernie Secondary. She entered St. Michael’s School of Nursing in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1953, graduated in 1956 then spent a few years working at the Kimberly Hospital. Then she spent the rest of her nursing career in Fernie.

Helen’s commitment to her community and others was a special gift she possessed. She was a dedicated member of the Holy Family Parish, and she and her sister Mary were the driving force behind a mining commemoration in Fernie. Helen loved the outdoors and sports. She enjoyed her cabin at Loon Lake, snowmobiling in the winter, and was an avid curler. Her love of travelling led her to travel the world. Helen will be remembered for her adventurous and free spirit and her caring and generous personality.

Helen is survived by her sister Elizabeth Tannant (Bachlet) and her brother-in-law, Malcolm Tannant of Penticton, British Columbia, and her sister-in-law Sharyn Bachlet of Trenton, Ontario. Also, by her nephews and nieces: Rick Loughery, David Tannant, Anne-Marie Tannant, and Allison Bachlet, as well as many great nephews and nieces and great, great nephews and nieces.
