Obituary of Holly Anne Miles

Holly Anne Miles

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Holly Anne Miles on July 31, 2026. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and lived her last few months with her brother’s family in Mission. Scott, Karen, Serena, Breslin and Nevin were honoured to have Holly as part of the family from April to July. Turbo the cat also enjoyed Holly’s company.

Holly was born in Kimberly on January 23, 1968. Her sister, Heather Nicol, was also born on January 23, 1968. Holly and Heather were inseparable from birth until 2004. That’s when Heather married Doug Nicol. Instead of losing a sister, Holly gained a brother as Doug has helped her with many things over the years.

Holly, Heather and Scott grew up on a farm in the Wycliffe area. Their mother, Lorraine, was a horse person and the family spent many hours riding the range and going to gymkhanas. Their father, Fred, worked hard to provide for the family and was able to fix anything with binder twine.

Holly and Heather graduated from Mount Baker Secondary School in 1987. They have worked in the hospitality industry since then. Holly’s last place of employment was the Sandman Hotel in Cranbrook. She enjoyed working there and will be missed by the staff.

Holly loved local hockey and volunteered at the games. This started with the Kootenay Ice in the RecPlex and continued with the Cranbrook Bucks in the Western Financial Place. While in the hospital, Holly would monitor the games on her phone with a stuffed Stagger by her side. Stagger was there when Holly took her last breath in Mission.

A Celebration of Holly’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 3:00 to 4:00 at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you consider a donation to the BC SPCA.
