Obituary of Sylvia Dale Deal

Sylvia Dale Deal (Simmons)

June 18, 1946 – May 30, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sylvia “Dale” Deal. Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother (“GG”), sister, auntie, and friend.

Dale passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by her children, after a brief respiratory illness.

Dale was born, the third of four children, on June 18th,1946 in Brandon MB. She spent her early childhood on the family farm in Minto, MB, going on countless adventures and making wonderful memories. She had a special bond and deep love for their Shetland pony, Billy.  The family later moved to Lethbridge, AB, where Dale learned the art of hairdressing – a skill she carried with her throughout life.  She went on to have four children, whom she cherished deeply. The last 45 years of her life were spent in Creston, BC, where the mountains always beckoned her home.

Those who knew Dale will remember her kindness and compassion, always giving of herself, touching countless lives. Her fun-loving nature fueled her to dance like nobody’s watching – arms and legs flailing wildly. She never missed the opportunity to crack a goofy joke, often inappropriate. Dale took pleasure in the great outdoors – gardening, rock collecting, fishing, or visiting outside with loved ones, surrounded by birdsong and gentle breezes. She always appreciated nature’s beauty.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Laurie (Bogie) Bodin, Shara (Randy) Walter, and TJ Deal; grandchildren: Kayla, Hannah, Molly, Jared, Keely, Taryn, Jamie, Phynn, Iszak, and Morgana; great-grandchildren: Aden, Finan, Shannon, Harrison, Harper, Ben, Noah, and Iyla; sisters Lyn, Judy, and Lisa; sister-in-law Mary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. Dale was predeceased by her parents, Harper and Edith Simmons, brother Jack, and youngest daughter, Shannon.

Dale’s family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation to the ICU team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook. Their compassionate, nurturing care will not be forgotten.

Friends and family are warmly invited to share in a celebration of Dale’s life on Sunday, July 12th at 4:00 pm at Trinity United Church, 128 10 Ave N, Creston, BC.

A life that touches others goes on forever.
