La Diva and the Maestro
The Symphony of the Kootenays launched its performance season Oct. 29 at Cranbrook’s Key City Theatre with the rousing and rambunctious La Diva and the Maestro.
Starring internationally loved soprano Natalie Choquette, the concert was packed with well-known classical and opera pieces, with the symphony performing under the musical direction of Bruce Dunn.
Lavish, lively and grandiose costumes and humour resounded around Choquette’s powerful voice.
The evening was a veritable feast of who’s who, from Rossini to Mozart to Gershwin and from Bizet’s Carmen to Puccini, Vangelis and more.
