Ron Sexsmith playing Key City Theatre

Canadian born folk-pop singer and songwriter Ron Sexmith will be performing at the Key City Theatre with special guest Jenn Grant.

ronsexsmithRon Sexsmith is a Canadian singer-songwriter who started his first band when he was 14-years-old. By the age of 17 he was playing the bar circuit in his hometown of St. Catharines, Ont., where he quickly gained a reputation as ‘the one-man jukebox.’ When his son was born in 1985 Ron decided to start writing his own songs, and soon after released his first album on cassette ‘Out of the Duff.’

Over the years he has released a total of 13 albums, growing in popularity and acquiring a number of famous admirers. Elvis Costello, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Steve Earle, and Sheryl Crow have all praised the Canadian pop-folk artist. Additionally, Sexsmith co-wrote Brandy Alexander with Feist and his song ‘Secret Heart’ has been covered by Rod Stewart, Fiest and Nick Lowe.

In 2011 he won a JUNO award for songwriter of the year for the song ‘Whatever it Takes’ – that was covered by Michael Buble.

Sexsmith’s newest album Forever Endeavour has been met with high praise from critics. His new music has been described as “deftly poetic, gently affecting songs that perfectly distil the pitfalls of being human.”

Jenn Grant is a Canadian JUNO nominated pop singer and songwriter currently touring her new record release The Beautiful Wild. This is the fourth album release for the Prince Edward Island native who thrives on risks and challenges of continually creating new music.

Ron Sexsmith and Jenn Grant plays the Key City Theatre on Monday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Key City Theatre box office.
