Boston Pizza Northstar Charity Tourney $13,500 for A Clear View

Hats off to Boston Pizza and Northstar Motors for another creative fundraiser bringing $13,500 to support the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign.

Thanks to the efforts of Trevor Gordon (BP), Pat Spring (Northstar), Colin Sinclair and Don MacMillan directors on the board of EKFH, the Par 3 Charity Golf Tournament held at the Cranbrook Golf Course on August 25 was a resounding success.

Trevor Gordon explains, “Boston Pizza partnering with Northstar is a natural fit considering the commitment that both companies have to doing business in Cranbrook and supporting the local area through community giving.  We combined our passion for golf and giving back to the community to come up with this unique golf tournament concept.”

The beautiful Cranbrook Golf Course was transformed into a par 3 format and thanks to the generosity of Northstar Motors each hole offered golfers a chance to win either a GM truck or car should an ace be scored.  If a hole-in-one didn’t entice you Boston Pizza with some help with Bridge Interiors offered some excellent closest to the pin prizes featuring golf bags, rescue clubs and bar fridges.  Although no holes-in-one were recorded, the closest was a 6” strike by Colin Sinclair but many closest to the pin prizes found wonderful homes.

It that wasn’t enough there was a chance to Beat the Pro (proceeds to the charity),  a chance to win the Bridge Interiors Putting Contest, dance, swing and sway to the rock and roll music of DJ Doug Thistle and to sample some tasty Boston Pizza treats and beverages.   Community support for silent and live auction items also added to the benefit of the charity.

Part of the uniqueness of the tournament was a Corporate Sponsor Shootout for a chance to win a 2012 Corvette.  Although 17 sponsors gave it their best shot no ace was recorded.

Donna Grainger, EKFH Executive Director, “What stands out in my mind is how well organized this event was and how fantastic it was to see so many new sponsors and players who may not have ever been involved with either EKFH or this campaign.   The kudos for that effort really belongs to Trevor, Pat, Colin and Don.”

The organizing committee sincerely recognizes those sponsors who stepped forward:  All Seasons Landscape Contracting, Falkins Insurance Group, Pelletier Construction, Fabrite Services Ltd, BDO, Caliper, Rocky Mountain Appraisal, Power Paving, Beachcomber Hot Tubs, Abreast in the Rockies, BMO Nesbitt Burns, Fiorentino Bros. Contracting Ltd. New Dawn Developments, Snap-on, CTC, High “R” Expectations, BA Blacktop, Selkirk Signs & Services Ltd., Mister Tire, Silenus Resource Management, and Bridge Interiors.   Thanks also to the team of Paul Whittingham and the Cranbrook Golf Course for being tremendous hosts and to all the volunteer hole spotters.

The Boston Pizza Northstar Charity Tournament combined with other campaign fundraisers and public donations has just moved the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign to over the $910,000 mark.
