Alberta woman killed in motorcycle crash

At 4:12 p.m. on May 22, Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment and East Kootenay Traffic Services officers responded to a fatal motorcycle accident near Marble Canyon on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park.

Witnesses indicate that a 2008 Harley Davidson, driven by a 55-year-old male from Spruce View, Alta., was passing a vehicle when it lost control striking a barrier.

The passenger on the motorcycle, the driver’s 50-year-old wife, was thrown from the bike suffering fatal injuries and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver was taken to Banff Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to assist the BC Coroner, who was also a witness to the accident.

“Our many thanks to all the people on hand who assisted the officers with traffic control and tending to both the driver and passenger,” stated Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment NCO S/Sgt. Marko Shehovac.
