Foundation announces new grants

The Kootenay Savings Community Foundation May 29 announced the distribution of $53,060 in new grants.

Since it was established in 2000, the Community Foundation has formed partnerships with hundreds of other local like-minded organizations and groups to leave lasting legacies in the Kootenays, investing close to $4 million into worthwhile non-profit projects and initiatives.

These most recent grants, ranging from $400 to $6,000, will provide much-needed funding to 24 diverse and deserving community groups from throughout the Kootenays.

East Kootenay organizations receiving funds include: Columbia Valley Youth Soccer Association; Kimberley Independent School Society; Meadowbrook Community Association; Wildsight Invermere; Windermere Elementary School PAC.

Along with the community grants, the Foundation is also rewarding youth for their commitment to community, leadership and learning by awarding $38,700 in educational awards and summer camp sponsorships.
