Mine Rescue Competition underway
There couldn’t be a lovelier late summer day to welcome the Fernie Mine Rescue Competition currently underway.
Eighteen teams from across Canada and the USA are competing in surface and underground rescue tasks Sept. 11 and 12, part of the 12th Biennial National Western Regional Mine Rescue Competition.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Mine Rescue Competition and the 60th year in B.C.
Close to 600 people (miners and their families) are expected in the city.
