Police and community partners lead to arrest

The RCMP was successful in arresting a subject in a short time thanks to the leads and cooperation from the community and our media partners.  A vehicle was reported stolen from the Cherry Creek area in Kimberley on Tuesday (June 23).

Police issued a press release advising of the theft which was broadcast through local media outlets.  Within a very short time, a person called the Cranbrook RCMP saying the vehicle was parked not far from the police station.

Officers attended and noted a nearby business with video surveillance.  From that they were able to obtain a photo a subject involved in the theft.  Officers viewed the photo and identified the suspect; officers also knew where the subject normally hangs out. The officers attended that location, located the subject and made an arrest.

The male from Cranbrook was released for a court at a later date. Police will be recommending charges of Possession of Stolen Property.

This is excellent example of the community, media and police working together for successful arrest.
