Suzuki goes digital for Wildsight Invermere event
He’s known world-wide as Canada’s voice for the environment. As a scientist, passionate advocate and eloquent communicator for nature, he has influenced generations of Canadians—and frustrated governments with his candor.
Now David Suzuki is coming to Invermere with a bracing presentation entitled: The Challenge of the 21st Century: Setting the Bottom Line.
Suzuki will outline the crux of the problem we face as a newly urbanized species, and how big-city living has changed our worldview and our priorities.
“We’re hosting David Suzuki because we believe his message is more timely than ever,” said Juri Peepre, Wildsight’s chair. “Many people in the East Kootenay are hungry for a vision of the future that reflects our community way of life and regard for nature.”
Peepre said this is a special occasion for many local people to meet Suzuki in person and hear what he has to say. So special, in fact, that tickets for the June 1 event sold out in a matter of days.
“We knew it would happen, so we decided to broadcast Dr. Suzuki’s presentation live via our website,” Peepre said. “That way, anyone who signs up beforehand can watch and listen live.”
Peepre said it’s easy to do if you have a computer with Internet access.
“Just visit www.Wildsight.ca and look for the banner to sign up to receive the info on how to view the live webcast,” he said. “We hope you take advantage of the digital option and that you enjoy Dr. Suzuki’s presentation.”
