Temporary change to emergency department hours

Elkford residents are advised that the emergency department with the Elkford Community Health Centre will close at 3 p.m. (and not the usual 4:30 p.m.) on six days in May due to limited physician availability. The early closing time will occur on the following dates: May 3,May 11, May 17, May 23, May 24 and May 31.

Elkford residents should take note of the following if they require care when the emergency department is closed:

In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1.

People who require non-urgent care can go to emergency departments in Sparwood (between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week) or Fernie (24/7).

If individuals are unsure about what services they require, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1.
The toll-free line provides 24-hour, confidential health information and advice from a registered nurse.

Elkford Emergency Department services normally operate Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Interior Health regrets this interruption to service.
