Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, March 25 through March 31, Columbia Valley RCMP officers responded to 50 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files our officers responded to.

Ring found in AG Foods parking lot

On March 25 a ring was located in the parking lot of AG Foods and turned into the Columbia Valley Detachment. If anyone is missing a ring, which may have been lost at AG Foods, please contact the Columbia Valley Detachment with a description of the ring and quote Columbia Valley file # 2019-619.

Youths removed from vacant house

On March 25, at 9 p.m., police received a report of several youths entering a vacant house in Canal Flats. Police attended and spoke to four youths who had been located in the house. In consultation with the property owner and parents of the youths, they were warned about their behaviour and reminded that, although the house was vacant, it was still private property and they were not permitted to be inside the house.

Assault investigation ongoing

On March 25, at 8:45 p.m., police were called to a disturbance on 10th Avenue in Invermere. Two men were involved in a verbal confrontation that escalated to an allegation of a physical assault. There were no serious injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Mischief-maker held in cells overnight

On March 28, at 7:15 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Kootenay Road # 3. An intoxicated male who had been causing a disturbance at the residence was arrested for mischief and held in cells until he was sober.

Suspicious vehicle call leads to arrest

On March 30, at 10 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at the Kanata Hotel near Invermere. Police located the vehicle with three occupants. Police determined a female occupant in the vehicle had an outstanding warrant. The female was arrested and released to appear in court at a later date.

Impaired driver stopped in Invermere

On March 31, at 7:30 p.m., police received a report of a possible impaired driver in a red Dodge Caliber. An officer located the vehicle travelling on 12th Street in Invermere and conducted a traffic stop. A roadside screening test was administered which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to the Columbia Valley Detachment where he provided additional breath tests that confirmed the driver’s blood/alcohol concentration was over the legal limit. The driver was served an administrative driving prohibition and released on a Promise to Appear in court at a later date.
