Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, October 7 through October 13, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 50 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files to which our officers responded.

Medical event possible cause of crash

On Monday, October 7 at 2:15 p.m., RCMP along with the Radium Hot Springs Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service, responded to a single vehicle collision on Forsters Landing Road in Radium Hot Springs. The driver of a Toyota Tacoma left the roadway at a slow speed and struck a large boulder. The collision was believed to be precipitated by a medical event. The driver was not seriously injured.

Copper wire stolen from BC Hydro yard

On Tuesday, October 8, BC Hydro reported a theft of copper from their yard on Athalmer Road in Invermere. Two roles of copper were stolen sometime over the weekend. Police are in the process of obtaining video surveillance of the theft. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbia Valley RCMP or Crimestoppers.

Fuel stolen at Spur Valley GC

On Thursday, October 9, the Spur Valley Golf Course reported theft of fuel from their equipment. An officer attended and seized items for forensic examination. Surveillance video was also requested. The investigation is ongoing.

12-hour driving suspension issued

On Friday, October 11 at about 10:30 p.m. an officer stopped a Hyundai Sonata that was traveling on Athalmer Road without headlights on. The driver denied consuming any alcohol prior to driving, however, a roadside breath test indicated the driver did have alcohol in his system which was in contravention of his Class 7 driver’s license. The driver was issued a 12-hour driving suspension.
