Telluride’s Mountainfilm on Tour in Invermere

Telluride’s Mountainfilm on Tour is coming to Invermere Feb. 9 and 10.

The event showcases culturally rich, adventure-packed, and incredibly inspiring documentary films selected from the Mountainfilm Festival held every Memorial Day weekend in Telluride, Colorado.  It takes place over two days.

“This is an event that I have followed for years, and have always wanted to bring it to Invermere, and try to build on the success that the Banff Mountain Film nights have had there over the past few years,” said Bill Johnston, Telluride’s Mountainfilm on Tour Invermere organizer.

The schedule

Friday, Feb. 9Mountainfilm for Students (free screenings)

The Telluride Emcee will host two screenings at David Thompson Secondary School:

10:15 a.m. – Grades 4 to 7 for students from JA Laird, Canal Flats, Windermere, and Edgewater Elementary Schools.

11:25 a.m. – Grades 8 to 11 – Students from David Thompson Secondary School.

Separate film playlists will be made for each age group, coordinating with Cheryl Lenardon from the School Board. Support and study materials for some of the films will be made available.

Saturday Feb. 10Mountainfilm Saturday Night at Columbia Valley Centre.

5:30 p.m. – Reception, with pizza and beer, and featuring a Photography Silent Auction and Exhibition of large format prints from some of the valley’s top mountain and nature photographers.

7 p.m. – the screenings start. The program should run to around 9:30 p.m. with a 15-minute intermission.

Tickets are available for Saturday night at Crazy Soles in Invermere, or online at www.tellurideinvermere.ca.

Tickets are $20, and event proceeds will go to support the Westside Legacy Trail.
