Investigation continues after body removed from Columbia

Columbia Valley RCMP was dispatched to the Fairmont Hot Springs area July 18 for a report of an older male who was found floating face down in the Columbia River.

RCMP responded to the area with a number of other emergency service personnel and upon arrival noted a fully clothed male who had obviously succumbed to the water flowing through the river.

“He was removed from the water by some brave men and women from the Windermere Fire and Rescue team,” reported Sgt. Bob Vatamaniuck, commander of the Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment.

RCMP are continuing to work with the B.C. Coroner’s service surrounding the death of the 82-year-old Alberta resident, but the matter is not deemed to be suspicious at this time.
