Mayor’s Message Spring 2014
By Mayor Dee Conklin /Village of Radium Hot Springs
Happy spring everyone! I think we can all say with certainty that we are so glad this long winter is over. We would like to welcome back our snowbirds, our weekenders and our visitors! The streets in Radium are getting cleared up after extra gravel was needed to keep from slipping and sliding all winter long.
The feeling here, and in the whole valley, is of true optimism for a great 2014 season. The golf courses are now open for play! (Actually this Easter weekend, you can ski and golf!) We have been promising fresh new signs and finally this spring you will see them going up – event, directional, and our Mountains Shall Bring Peace sign will all have new locations. Along with the new signage, you will see that some of the businesses in town are busily renovating (Helna’s Stube), re-facing (Crystal Springs) or are new (Leo Burrito and Mountain Cravings).
The village staff and council welcome our new event coordinator Melanie Kamphuis, who is working hard planning exciting events for Radium for this and many years to come. She is working closely with Tourism Radium to make sure that both visitors and locals enjoy all that we have to offer. Radium Days and Best of Brits Car Show on Saturday, June 7 will be here before we know it! If you are looking at your calendar plan to stay an extra day and play in the Tourism Radium ‘Ram into Summer’ Fun Golf tournament on Monday, June 23 at Radium Resort.
One last thing we would like to ask is for you to come out on Saturday, April 26 and reconnect with friends and neighbours at our Trash Bash event. We hope to see you all there. Here’s to a great year!
