Vital Signs seeks public participation

Columbia Valley’s Vital Signs is asking residents what is important to them in order to evaluate the valley as a place to live, learn, work and grow.

It is asking residents to complete the 2018 Vital Signs survey or take part in ongoing coffee events around the valley, including one this morning (June 14) at the Invermere Tim Hortons and another from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Invermere Public Library.

June 15, there are events at Base Camp Coffee in Canal Flats from 9 a.m. to noon and Valley Coffee in Fairmont Hot Springs from 1 to 4 p.m.

On June 16, the event moves to Spilli Station in Spillimacheen from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The final three events: are June 20 (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at Quality Bakery in Invermere; June 21 (9-11 a.m.) at Circle Café in Invermere; and June 22 (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at Big Horn Café in Radium Hot Springs.

The purpose of Columbia Valley’s Vital Signs is to identify key community needs and opportunities.

The report will provide information that measures the health of our community, identifies trends, and ranks the importance of issues that are critical to the Columbia Valley’s quality of life.

Information included in the report will be gathered from a variety of sources and presented in a reader-friendly, easy-to-use format to help increase understanding of how the community is doing and where to learn more.  (Data includes our community survey and statistics collected from multiple sources)

Columbia Valley’s Vital Signs report uncovers and highlights areas in need of attention, as well as the strengths of our region, and brings the community together to discuss shared issues and concerns. Vital Signs has been very successful in initiating and fueling important conversations about quality of life in communities.

As a community foundation, it will help us to:

  • support donor requests for information on the community
    • make our grant making more effective and proactive
    • strengthen our understanding and ties to the community.

And for the community overall, it will help support decision-making in the region by identifying and promoting key priorities. Information and knowledge are at the heart of our ability to work together to make good decisions for our region.
