Bed Race returning to Sam Steele Days

The Bedroom Charity Bed Race is set to take place on Sam Steele Days Saturday at 1 p.m. (June 18).

After a 15-year hiatus, the bed races are back, and better than ever.

The Bedroom Furniture Galleries and Rocky Mountain Diesel have teamed up to build incredible racing beds for teams to use. You can still bring your own bed, or borrow one of the new fancy racing beds.

Five person teams race head to head down Baker Street in front of The Bedroom.

“We were looking for a fun way to participate in Sam Steele Days, and raise some money for a charity or non profit organization,” said organizer Joey Hoechsmann. “This year, all proceeds raised will go to JCI Kootenay; a great organization that develops young leaders in our community.”

Teams are encouraged to register early online at www.bedroombedrace.com. However, teams can register right up to the event. “The more teams, the better,” Hoechsmann said, adding, “Find a few friends, challenge another business or team, have some fun!”

All participants will get a ‘Quick in Bed, Proud of it’ t-shirt, and have a chance to win some fantastic prizes from The Bedroom Furniture Galleries. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the racers and t-shirts will be available for sale.
