Bowen Byram first team WHL all-star

The Western Hockey League (WHL) announced today the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star teams for the 2018-19 WHL season.

Vancouver Giants’ defenceman Bowen Byram, of Cranbrook, is among the six players named to the Western Conference All-Star Team.

WHL Conference All-Stars are voted upon by WHL General Managers.

FIRST ALL-STAR TEAM
Goaltender – Dustin Wolf (Tustin, Calif.) – Everett Silvertips;
Defenceman – Ty Smith (Lloydminster, Alta..) – Spokane Chiefs;
Defenceman – Bowen Byram (Cranbrook, B.C.) – Vancouver Giants;
Forward – Joachim Blichfeld (Frederikshavn, Denmark) – Portland Winterhawks;
Forward – Cody Glass (Winnipeg, Man.) – Portland Winterhawks;
Forward – Connor Dewar (The Pas, Man.) – Everett Silvertips.

The now Winnipeg ICE is not represented in the all-star selections.

However, the first order of business for the former Cranbrook-based team was today winning the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft lottery.

The Winnipeg ICE will select first overall at the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. The club will have two picks in the top nine, owning the Red Deer Rebels’ selection for this year.
