City to provide bus and pool passes to Ukrainian families

Coun. John Hudak

City of Cranbrook council June 13 approved a resolution brought forward by Councillor John Hudak to provide complimentary bus passes and pool passes to any Ukrainian citizens registered with the Shelter For Ukrainians Society (SFUS) and living in Cranbrook and area.

SFUS is a local, non-profit society created in March 2022 to assist Ukrainians seeking safety from the war in Ukraine with Russia since February 2022.

These complimentary bus passes and pool passes will expire within three years from the date of issuance. This time period will align with the federal immigration rules as they apply to the Ukrainians whom have met the federal government criteria for residing in Canada, while seeking safety from the war in Ukraine with Russia.

See Councillor Hudak’s full resolution.
