Cranbrook Arts in April

Felt Emotions: Emotions Felt

This colourful and unique exhibit of hand felted clothing by Barb Guillen begins this weekend April 1 at the 1401 gallery. Cranbrook Arts is very excited to be able to show off Barb’s skill in our perfect new setting.

You will find Boho jackets, ponchos, dresses and scarves all of which are truly one of a kind. You will never find an identical item of clothing like these works of art.  Barb will be artist in residence on Saturday, April 23 and will be running felting demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This exhibit runs through April.

The gallery is open every weekend, Friday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

We also carry Barb’s work in our shop at 1013 Baker St. The shop is open Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Art Group 75 will be our featured artists in the shop for the month of April.  This dedicated group of local artists have been painting together for many years and this is your chance to see their new work.

We are pleased to let the public know that we will be offering one more adult beginner Pottery Class this month beginning April 4. Check the webpage for dates.

Carleen Hamdon is running a series of wheel classes in April.  The weekend of April 9 and 10 we look forward to Mike Hepher’s Lino Cut Block Printing Workshop. Please register on the website.

We have a preschool series of classes in the works for May but will be winding down many of our classes in June in preparation for other events and Summer Camps. Our regular school age programs run until the end of April.  During these last months of this school year we invite all elementary school classes to come for a visit with us by contacting [email protected] to book a time.

For a small cost we will provide a short talk and activity.  Junior High and High School students are also welcome to visit the gallery with their teachers and their own individualized programs. Please phone ahead to make arrangements.
