Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) July 16 to 6 a.m., July 23.
Police handled 175 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Four impaired driving: (alcohol).
One collision in the city: A two-vehicle collision where one driver was charged for failing to yield after stop, minor injuries and property damage.
Two collisions outside the city: A single vehicle went off the road on Wardner-Fort Steele Road, minor injuries sustained; and a semi truck went off road right Hwy 3/93 near Galloway, no injuries.
15 driving complaints: Five in the city and 10 highway/ rural.
Three hit and runs: A truck hit a power pole causing power outage and driver was located upon investigation and charged for failing to remain at scene of accident; a hit and run to a parked vehicle at Tamarack Mall, driver was located and dealt with accordingly. And damage to a retaining wall and fence pole.
Four assaults: Two domestic assaults; a prisoner punched another prisoner; a female assaulted on the highway by another male and female, where passers-by intervened and stopped the assault.
Nine Mental Health Act related calls: one assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
15 thefts.
Three shoplifting.
One theft of auto: A truck was located in the rural area heavily damaged.
Five thefts from autos: A rear plate stolen; theft of wallets from vehicle at Moyie Falls where windows were smashed; theft of lottery tickets from unlocked vehicle; front plate stolen; and prescription sunglasses stolen from unlocked vehicle.
Six thefts other: Money taken, suspect known; theft of jewellery unfounded; theft of jacket and contents unfounded; two thefts of paddle boards from Moyie; theft of kayaks.
One break and enter to residence: In a rural area, neighbours likely scared off the suspects, nothing stolen.
Five damage to property: A vehicle window cracked; mischief to victim’s vehicle and residence door; residence door damaged as a result of domestic dispute; false report of property damage.
Four drug seizures: cannabis and heroin.
23 false alarms and False 911 calls.
